Fall is finally upon us in Salt Lake City, bringing cooler temperatures, hoodie weather, and a fresh lineup of exciting events and conversations.

First, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our live episode featuring Shereen Ghorbani. Your presence and questions made the event special, and your feedback will shape our future live recordings. Speaking of upcoming events, I'm thrilled to announce that Swimming Paul will be performing at Sky SLC this Friday! I discovered this incredible DJ whose sound reminds me of Fred Again, and I've arranged a special 10% discount for all my listeners through the link in our show notes.

Our most recent episode with Scott Haslam is a must-listen for anyone interested in entrepreneurship and community building. Scott's creation of Ranger Sound Car has brought hundreds of people together, earning him my nickname as "a modern-day Great Gatsby." Bookish fans should stay alert for our next event announcement – the wonderful women of Bookish and I are planning something special at Mountain West Cidery that you won't want to miss.

Mark your calendars for Red West Country Music Festival featuring Post Malone, Noah Kahn, and Kacey Musgraves! Even if country music isn't typically your jam, there's something magical about putting on boots and a hat to enjoy music amid the crisp fall leaves. But I'm perhaps most excited about our upcoming episode with James Atkin, VP of Marketing at Nomadic – a Utah-based company creating some of the world's best bags and luggage. James's journey from St. George to professional skateboarding alongside legends like Jamie Thomas and Bob Burnquist before transitioning to marketing is absolutely fascinating. It might be my favorite episode we've ever recorded.

Come say hello if you spot me at any of these events, and don't forget to subscribe, share, and leave a review if you're enjoying these Salt Lake City stories and connections!

What is up everybody and welcome back to another Tuesday Update. It is me, eric Nilsson, the host of the Small Lake City podcast, and have a few announcements for you today. First and foremost, thank you to everybody who came out to the live episode. It was a really good time interviewing Shereen Ghorbani, letting people ask some questions and being able to meet some more listeners, so we'll definitely have some more live events coming up. I got some feedback on how to improve those, so make sure to pay attention for upcoming live recordings Upcoming this Friday.

Swimming Paul is performing at Sky SLC Now. Swimming Paul is a DJ that I found, honestly, driving in my car to my grandpa on Easter, and found a DJ that sounded a lot like one of my favorite DJs, fred again. So I will be there. The best part is is all of you can get 10% off of a ticket. I will have a link in the show notes below so you can come join me for less than everybody else has to pay. Also, if you haven't listened to the most recent episode with Scott Haslam, make sure to check it out, whether you are someone who likes to hear about the entrepreneurial story of someone, whether you'd like to hear someone who's built an amazing community or a side project that's brought hundreds of people together. I consider him a modern day great Gatsby. So listen to the episode as to why and how he brought Ranger Sound car to life. Also, in case you didn't go to the last bookish event that me and the wonderful women of bookish put together at mountain west cidery, we are planning one soon and should have some more information for you coming up shortly. So pay attention to that, and I'm really excited for what we have up our sleeve. And in case it isn't on your calendar, make sure to market for red west country music festival. Now. I'm not the biggest country music fan, but for an excuse to put on some boots, put on some wranglers, put on a hat and go listen to a bunch of country music, especially in the early fall with some crispy leaves. Sign me up, especially when it's probably going to be one of the last concerts of the year. Come, hang out with everybody and enjoy some good music, because I know you all love Salt Lake's own Post Malone. We've got Noah Kahn, we've got Kacey Musgraves and a couple other favorites that I'm excited to see some coming back from last year. So make sure to see that I will be there. Come say hi. If you see me, make sure to buy a ticket. But lastly, I want to announce this week's guest.

Now there's one company in Utah that I think goes under the radar and a lot of people don't know. The founders are from here and it's actually based in Sandy, utah. The company is called Nomadic and they make some of the best bags, backpacks, luggage that you could ever imagine. So I had on James Atkin. Now James Atkin is their VP of marketing. Now, when I reached out to my cousin about an intro, he introduced me to James and we've been back and forth for months to record, as typically does with a lot of the guests that I have Now. I thought that James was one of the founders and didn't realize it until I started preparing for the episode. I decided to go through with it, but I ended up with an episode better than I could have ever imagined. Now, james Atkin is from St George, utah, grew up LDS but became a professional skateboarder, moved to Southern California and ended up touring the world with some famous skateboarders, some of which being Jamie Thomas, bob Burnquist, and we talk a lot about what that life was like him transitioning from professional skateboarding to working in marketing, and how he now works at Nomadic, creating some of the coolest bags and a lot of his mantras of success in this realm.

Honestly, I don't like to play favorites, but this might be one of my favorite ones that I've ever recorded, so that will be releasing soon. Keep an eye on Instagram for that. You're going to love this one, no matter who you are, but I can't believe that it's already fall. I went to Empire of the Sun last night. I was wearing pants and a hoodie, and it's finally hoodie season, the very beginning of it. Make sure to enjoy the shortfall while we can before the snow starts falling. So I will see you at Sky this Friday for Swimming Paul. Get your tickets for both the Cache Valley Creamery Showdown, Red West coming up, and keep an eye out for James Atkin. Enjoy a good week and, yeah, see you soon.
