Tuesday Announcements 9/2: A Week Off, Liddy Huntsman, Live Recording, Greek Festival, and This Week's Guest...

Erik Nilsson

From the medical establishment to medical rebel, Mallory Cracroft's journey challenges everything we thought we knew about women's healthcare. After years as a practicing OBGYN, Cracroft found herself increasingly frustrated by a system that compartmentalizes women's health issues rather than seeing the whole person. Her response? She walked away from her medical career to found Uplift for Her, an organization dedicated to supporting women through a truly holistic approach to health and wellbeing.

Our conversation explores the critical gaps in traditional women's healthcare and how Cracroft's venture addresses them. We dive deep into the unique challenges women face during major life transitions like pregnancy and childbirth, the interconnection between physical and mental health, and why fifteen-minute appointment windows simply can't provide the comprehensive care women deserve. Cracroft shares powerful insights about why treating symptoms without addressing root causes continues to fail patients, particularly women whose concerns are often dismissed or minimized in medical settings.

What makes this episode particularly compelling is hearing a medical insider's perspective on where the system breaks down and how we might rebuild it. Whether you're navigating your own healthcare journey, supporting someone who is, or simply interested in healthcare innovation, Cracroft's story offers both validation and hope. Her courage in stepping away from the prestige and security of a medical career to build something truly aligned with women's needs demonstrates what's possible when we prioritize purpose over convention. Listen now to discover how one doctor's frustration became the catalyst for a healthcare revolution that puts women at the center of their own healing journey. What is up everybody and welcome back to another Tuesday update. It is me, eric Nielsen, the host of the Small Lake City podcast, and have a few announcements and updates for you all. First off, apologies for last week I took a complete week off, which I haven't done, honestly, in almost a year and a half year and a half, and it was nice to just kind of completely disconnect. But that means that there was no Tuesday update, no newsletter, no new episode and only about one reel. So, uh, but also excited to get back into it. Been posting a lot recently, so make sure to follow on Instagram in case you're missing any of that. Uh also released the episode with Liddy Huntsman. Um, Huntsman is a name that all of you should know by now, whether you're walking around campus at the? U or have been following local and national politics. Liddy is the daughter of John Huntsman Jr. Yes, the John Huntsman that was the governor, the ambassador to China, presidential candidate, someone who she calls herself to be the black sheep of the Huntsman family, and knowing her and hearing her story, I agree, but found her identity through working at SNL in New York, meeting her husband and moving to the Dominican Republic, being diagnosed with diabetes and being an advocate for police mental health in her candidacy for local politics. So definitely something worth checking out there.

Also, make sure to mark your calendars because this weekend is the Greek Festival. So, whether you want to explore the Greek culture or eat some amazing Greek food, definitely something worth exploring this weekend. Friday, saturday and Sunday on Third West, in between Second and Third South, that is where it will be. Tickets are only like five bucks, so there is no reason not to come watch some good Greek dancing, learn about the Greek community here in Salt Lake and also enjoy some Greek food.

Speaker 1:

So this week's guest is Mallory Craycroft. Now she is the founder of Uplift for Her. Now Mallory was an OB-GYN, went to medical school, came back to Utah but found a lot of frustrations in the medical community, especially when it came to the whole picture of women's health. Now that led her to quit her job as an OBGYN and start Uplift for Her, supporting women in their journey, especially in childbirth, especially in mental health and all the different aspects that come towards a holistic view of someone's health. So we talk a little bit about her journey, what she's hoping to accomplish Honestly, amazing, human, great conversation.

Speaker 1:

This is something that you're all going to enjoy. So that will be releasing this weekend. So keep an eye on the Instagram for when that does. But if not, enjoy a week of great weather. We're finally slipping into this kind of post-summer, pre-fall era of great weather, not too warm, so make sure to go out and enjoy it before it gets too cold to enjoy anything. So, yeah, I will see you this weekend. Make sure to go buy tickets for the live episode and make sure to keep an eye out for the episode this weekend. See you there.
