Exciting changes are brewing at Small Lake City podcast! We're thrilled to announce our first-ever live podcast recording happening Friday, September 19th at Flanker at Gateway Downtown. The event kicks off at 8 PM and will be followed by an incredible after-party right at Flanker. Space is limited, so grab your tickets through the link in our show notes. While we're keeping our special guest under wraps for now, trust me – you won't want to miss this historic night.
For those looking to show some Salt Lake pride, we've just launched a collection of Utah-themed stickers featuring local favorites like funeral potatoes, dirty soda, and "the whale." They're perfect for water bottles, laptops, or anywhere you want to display your Utah connections. We're running a buy-three-get-one-free special, so now's the perfect time to stock up. Keep an eye on our Instagram for more merchandise dropping soon!
This weekend's episode features a fascinating conversation with Liddy Huntsman, daughter of former governor and presidential candidate John Huntsman Jr. Liddy shares her unconventional journey from growing up in the governor's mansion to breaking family expectations by pursuing comedy in New York, living in Haiti, and ultimately returning to Salt Lake to run for local office. It's a candid look at finding your own path while maintaining deep connections to your hometown. The episode offers unique insights into Salt Lake's political landscape through the eyes of someone who's seen it from multiple perspectives. Listen wherever you get your podcasts and let us know your thoughts!
Want to connect with other Small Lake City listeners? RSVP for our live event, follow us on social media, and don't forget to check out our conversation with Marcio Buffalo, now head brewmaster at Mountain West Cider. Thanks for being part of our community – we can't wait to see you in person!

What is up everybody and welcome back to another Tuesday update. It is me, eric Nielsen, the host of the Small Lake City podcast, and I have a ton of announcements this week, so buckle up. First, and the one I'm most excited about, is we are having the first live Small Lake City podcast recording. It's going to be Friday, september 19th at Flanker at Gateway Downtown, starting at 8 PM. Um, there's a link in bio to RSVP, as well as in the show notes for this show. You are going to be pumped when I announce who the guest is, but make sure to RSVP, tell your friends. And the best part is there's going to be an amazing after party at Flanker itself. So I'm excited you should be excited and excited to see all of you there. Uh, I wish I could fit everybody, but unfortunately we are limited. So make sure to get tickets early. Come, hang out, make some friends, have a great cider.
Speaker 1:Listen to the episode I recorded semi-recently with Marcio Buffalo, who is now the head brewmaster at Mountain West Cider. So definitely check that out. Also, in case you haven't checked yet, launched a bunch of stickers on the website, from funeral potatoes to dirty soda, the whale and more. So go check those out. It's buy three, get one free. So if you need to get some for you, your friends, your family, your mom, your sister, your dog, for your laptop, for your water bottle, your car, whatever it might be, there's definitely a sticker there for you, so make sure to check that out. Also have some more merch coming up soon, so make sure to check here and Instagram for those announcements. Also just released this week's episode. Apologize for being a couple days late. Got an opportunity to go down to Southern Utah last minute and go to one of my favorite places, so I took that up and unfortunately didn't have time to edit this weekend.
Speaker 1:But that is now live wherever you like to listen to podcasts, but also want to announce this week's guest. So this week's guest is someone who was born and raised in Salt Lake, moved away and has recently come back. They come from a pretty prominent family in Salt Lake and, ironically, was one of my sister's best friends in high school and I was really good friends with her younger brother in high school as well. Her name is Liddy Huntsman yes, the daughter of presidential candidate and former governor, john Huntsman Jr. And she has now moved back to Salt Lake and running for local office because she wants to be able to make a impact on the community that she knows and loves.
Speaker 1:So it's a great conversation about not only her life of being in high school while her dad was a governor and living in the governor's mansion, but taking a detour from what the family typically expected of her being a black sheep moving to New York to do comedy, marrying someone, moving to Haiti for a few years and now moving back. So there's a lot that we cover, a lot of different facets to it, but it was a great conversation and catching up with her. So that will be releasing this weekend wherever you like to listen. So have a great week. Come to bookish tonight, mark your calendar for the live event and look in the show notes for links for both of those, but I will see you with Liddy Huntsman this weekend.
