Ready for your Tuesday update from Small Lake City? Exciting things are brewing in our podcast community this week!

Have you heard the remarkable story of Dendrick Estate yet? Our latest episode features founders Carly and Brendan Coyle, who've created something truly special in our local cider scene. From growing their own fruit to fermenting and bottling - all in Camas - they've built an authentic, farm-to-glass operation that stands out in Utah's craft beverage landscape. Their journey from dream to reality showcases the innovative spirit thriving in our community.

For those looking to show some Small Lake City pride, our merchandise store has officially launched with stickers featuring iconic designs: Julia Reagan, funeral potatoes, whales, and dirty soda! With our buy-three-get-one-free deal, you can treat yourself and share with friends or family. These visual tokens of our shared conversations make perfect gifts for anyone connected to our Salt Lake City community.

Mark your calendars for August 19th! We're collaborating with Bookish for a unique reading party at Mountain West Cider. Grab your current read, sip on local cider, and connect with fellow book lovers in a relaxed setting. I'll be there too, and can't wait to meet you in person - just follow the link in our bio to secure your spot before tickets sell out.

This weekend's episode features the inspiring Michelle DeCastro, who followed a sign from Fort Lauderdale to Salt Lake City in 2019. When 2020's challenges hit, Michelle created something beautiful - the Unity Block Party - inspired by neighborhood traditions from her Florida upbringing. We discuss what drew her to Utah, her favorite Small Lake City moments, and how she's building bridges through her annual community gathering at Liberty Square.

Subscribe now so you don't miss Michelle's story dropping this weekend! Leave a review to help more Salt Lake City residents discover these local stories that make our community special.

Speaker 1:

What is up, everybody, and welcome back to another Tuesday Update. It is me, Eric Nilsen, the host of the Small Lake City Podcast. Back for another Tuesday Update. A few things. Number one if you haven't listened to the most recent episode with Carly and Brendan Coyle, the founders of Dendrick Estate, go check it out. It's an amazing story. I love what they're doing for the community.

Speaker 1:

We've had a lot of great cideries pop up, but for me theirs is one of the most unique, when they're growing the fruit up in Camas, they're fermenting it up in Camas, bottling it up in Camas, and it's truly such an organic, special company that we have here, and it was fun to hear of how their dream came to reality. Also, in case you haven't purchased yours yet, stickers are live on the website. We have the Julia Reagan stickers, we have funeral potato stickers, we have whale stickers, we have dirty soda stickers and the best part is buy three, get one free. So buy one for a friend, buy an extra for yourself, your mother, your brother, your dad, your grandma, whoever there's got to be someone in your life that would want one for you to give it to them for free. Also coming up this Tuesday, August 19th, is the bookish event that I'm collaborating with them with at Mountain West Cider. It's going to be a fun, unique reading party there, so bring a book, grab a cider and make some friends. It's going to be a great time and I will be there as well. Link to get tickets is in the bio, so make sure to get them there before then, because it will sell out Also.

Speaker 1:

Lastly, I want to introduce this week's guest. So this week's guest is Michelle DeCastro. Now, Michelle De moved here from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from a sign that this is where she was meant to be. Now, when she came here in 2019, she was caught up in a lot of what was going on in 2020 and was looking for something to build a better community here. When she started her own first parking lot party, she was inspired to start her own unity block party, bringing people together once a year, similar to what she would do growing up in her neighborhood in Florida. So we talk more about what brought her here, what keeps her here, a lot of the fun Small Lake City moments that she's had along the way, and then her event coming up later this month that you can all come participate and enjoy with Unity Block Party at Liberty Square. So that will be releasing this weekend. Make sure to keep an eye on Instagram for that. But otherwise, have a great week and I will see you this weekend.
