Tuesday Update 6/24: Manoli's, Ranger Soundcar, Wine Wednesday, Cheese Fest, Bookish, and Vault Episode
Summer in Salt Lake City is heating up, and we've got your insider guide to all the can't-miss happenings! Tomorrow's episode features Manoli Katsanevas, the culinary force behind Manoli's and Perea restaurants, sharing his remarkable journey from working in his family's Crown Burger empire to forging his own path in the restaurant world. His story of passion and dedication to his craft offers inspiration for anyone following their dreams.
Music lovers won't want to miss this Saturday's show at the Ranger lot in West Valley, where Ranger, Soundcar, and Doof are bringing in Coachella performer Cole Knight for what promises to be an unforgettable night. July 9th brings a double-header of events for both wine enthusiasts and cheese aficionados – join Jimmy Santangelo of the Wine Academy of Utah for Wine Wednesday at Nona Bistro, or bring the whole family to the Food Truck Cheese Fest at Mill Creek Common for prizes, giveaways, and deliciously cheesy creations.
Looking ahead to August 19th, we're thrilled to announce our partnership with Bookish for a special community gathering at Mountain West Cidery's gorgeous garden patio. It's the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow podcast listeners while enjoying ciders, cocktails, and typically some live music under the summer sky. We're also bringing back a vault episode this week, showcasing one of our favorite conversations from the early days of Small Lake City. What is up everybody and welcome back to another Tuesday update. I am your host of the Small Lake City podcast, eric Nilsson, and we have a lot of updates actually this week a ton going on that I want to make sure are on all of your radar. So apologies for this week being a little delayed, but tomorrow morning at 6 am the episode with Manoli Katsanevas is live. In case you don't know, he is the founder of the restaurant Manoli's and also the sister restaurant down the street Perea. He grew up in the Catanevas family, the family that famously started Crown Burger. So he started growing up working at the restaurant until he decided that he wanted to make food his entire career. So great episode that's going to be releasing tomorrow. Also coming up this Saturday Ranger, soundcar and Doof are throwing a show at the Ranger lot in West Valley. It's going to be an amazing show. They are flying in Cole Knight, who has done a lot of amazing sets, who played at Coachella this year. She's going to crush it. So make sure to buy some tickets. The link is in the show notes below, so make sure to check that out in case you are interested.
Speaker 0:Also coming up on July 9th we have two different events for two different types of people. So first we have Wine Wednesday at Nona Bistro with Jimmy Santangelo of the Wine Academy of Utah. He's going to come in with four different wines, teach us how to appreciate it, taste it, smell it and understand what that all means about the wine itself. And it's going to pair wonderfully with the Nona Bistro menu so you can have an amazing dinner with some great wine and understand it all that night. So that is going to be at 7 pm on July 9th. Now, also on July 9th is the Food Truck Cheese Fest thrown by Cash Valley Creamery at the Mill Creek Common. So that is going to be, as I said, at the Mill Creek Common July 9th from 5 to 8. There's going to be a ton of prizes and giveaways and some ways to have some amazingly cheesy food there. It's going to be a family-friendly event. So come one, come all, bring the kids, bring the fam. It's going to be a great time.
Speaker 0:Also, coming up on August 19th, we are partnering with Bookish to put an event together for everybody to come meet some friends. It's going to be at 7 to around 10 pm at Mountain West Cidery, at the garden there. In case you haven't been there. It's one of my favorite outdoor patios at Mountain West Cider, so you have all of their ciders that you can try full bar full, everything usually live music. So make sure to put that on the calendar for August 19th.
Speaker 0:And also, if you haven't yet, make sure to subscribe to the newsletter. Going to be a lot of different ideas coming up for the 4th of July as well as the 24th of July, and that's the best way to do that, or else this will be a 10 minute Tuesday update. So make sure to go to the website wwwsmalllakepodcom, or check the show notes to go subscribe to the newsletter so you can keepa better eye on what's going on. Also, this week's episode is going to be a vault episode, so I'm going to bring one of my favorites back from the early days of the podcast. So, in case you're new to the show or haven't listened to it a while, that will be coming from there. But besides that, enjoy some great weather. There's a lot of great concerts coming up. I'm going to Halsey tonight, which I'm excited for. So, yeah, enjoy that. Catch Manoli's tomorrow. Mark your calendar for all the events and I will see you on the new episode for the Vault on Saturday. See ya.
