Summer is taking off in Salt Lake City, and we're here with all the essential updates to keep you connected to the best events around town!

Our biggest news? We've officially partnered with SLC Scoop after discovering our shared vision for highlighting what makes this city special. After recording with Dylan, Chris, and Jordan, we knew this collaboration would create something special. Stay tuned for exciting new segments and behind-the-scenes content coming your way soon.

Mark your calendars for the Salt Lake Arts Festival happening downtown from June 18th-22nd at the City County Building and library. Now in its 49th year, this beloved summer tradition offers local art, diverse food options, and live music—perfect for the beautiful weekend weather ahead. For the night owls, Ranger Sound Car and Doof are collaborating on an epic late-night EDM event on the 28th (location TBA, but tickets are available now). And don't miss the Food Truck Cheese Fest on July 9th at Mill Creek Common, a free, family-friendly event with prizes and delicious cheesy creations from Cache Valley Cheese.

Music fans will be thrilled to hear that Red West Festival returns this fall with an incredible lineup including Post Malone, Kacey Musgraves, Noah Kahn, and many more talented performers.

Looking ahead to this Saturday's episode, we're sitting down with Manoli Katsanevas, owner of the renowned Greek restaurant Manoli's and member of the influential Katsanevas family (whose roots extend from Crown Burger to the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City). We'll explore how he built his restaurant empire, including his newer fast-casual concept Perea, and dive into Salt Lake's vibrant Greek community.

Join us Saturday for this fascinating conversation, and follow our social channels for links to all the events mentioned. Which summer event are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments!

Speaker 1:

What is up everybody and welcome back to another Tuesday update. I am your host of the Small Lake City Podcast, eric Nilsson, and actually a lot of announcements this week. So buckle up, hang in there. There's a lot of great stuff coming up. So, first and foremost, if you missed the Instagram post, I am officially partnered with SLC Scoop, as you know. That was last week's episode and after recording with them, hanging out with them, realize that we have a lot of the same goals and there's some people I get along with really well. So expect a lot of new segments together, a lot of more. So expect to see a lot of new content coming from us, some new segments that we have cooking up and more behind the scenes and just content in general. So a lot to look forward to there. And also, if you haven't checked out the episode, make sure to go check it out. Awesome guys Dylan, chris, jordan super fun to hang out with, and just some guys that want to make some cool content and do some cool stuff together. So make sure to check that out.

Speaker 1:

Also coming up this weekend, between the 18th and the 22nd, is the Salt Lake Arts Festival downtown at the City County Building and the library, so go make sure to check that out. It's one of my favorite things. That happens every summer. I believe this is the 49th year, so it's been going on for as long as most of us can remember. So if you need something to do, go check it out. Go buy some new pieces for your house, some new prints, get some food, listen to some music really can't go wrong, and it should be some great weather this weekend to go enjoy it.

Speaker 1:

Also, next weekend, on the 28th, ranger Sound Car and Doof are pairing up to have an amazing afters. The location hasn't been determined yet, but tickets are live. Check the show notes for a link to get some. I'm going to be there. I love late-night EDM shows. Scott Haslam, the guy who throws Ranger Sound Car, is an awesome guy. I love hanging out with him. They've got a great lineup, so make sure to buy some tickets and I will see you there.

Speaker 1:

Also coming up on July 9th make sure to mark your calendar for this. But there's the Food Truck Cheese Fest being thrown by Cash Valley Cheese at the Mill Creek Common on July 9th. It's completely free, family-friendly. Bring the family, bring some friends, enjoy some cheesy dishes and enter to win some great prizes as well, so make sure to check that out on July 9th. Also, in case you missed the announcement, red West is coming back this fall and the lineup is absolutely unreal with Post Malone, kacey Musgraves, noah Kahn, ko Wetzel, treaty, oak Revival, ella Langley, ian Mudzik, the Red Clay Straws, sam Barber, avrianna and more. So make sure to go get some tickets. There's also a link in bio so you can check that out, get some expedited entry and win a free koozie as well.

Speaker 1:

So, outside of those announcements, I want to announce this week's guest. If there's one Greek restaurant in the Valley that rises above the rest, it's no joke and no secret that it is Manoli's. So this week's guest is Manoli Katsanevas. He is part of the Katsanevas family, which has its roots throughout all of Salt Lake, everything from Crown Burger to the Real Housewives of Salt Lake. He's also opened up a fast, casual restaurant called Perea, which is on 9th South, right across the street from Loki. So we're going to talk a lot about how he started the restaurant. The Greek community in Salt Lake, which is one of my favorite cultures that has been consistent and strong and prominent in Salt Lake. So that will be releasing this Saturday. Make sure to look out for that and I will see you there. But besides that, enjoy a great week, enjoy some good weather. Hopefully you all have Juneteenth off tomorrow and can go do some fun outside adventures. But besides that, I will see you Saturday for Manoli and we will go from there, see ya.
