What is up everybody and welcome back to the small lake city podcast for another tuesday update with me, your host, eric nilsson. First things first. If you haven't listened to the most recent episode with bajan, go check it out. There's a lot of people who are curious about cannabis in utah how it works, how it's changed, what does the future look like and how to get access if you want to become a patient. But not only that. Baj Bajan's story is amazing of having family migrate from the Middle East, him growing up here, him having ulcerative colitis, which essentially is a lot like Crohn's disease. That caused him a ton of pain and discomfort in his life, but the thing that fixed it was cannabis. And his story is not the only one where a lot of people get a lot of the stigmas of cannabis but don't realize that there's a whole other side of the medical properties that it has. So go check that out if you haven't. Number two is something coming up that I'm really excited to share, with everybody Coming up. On the 14th of November, me and the lovely ladies at HK Brewing are throwing an event together there. It's going to be based around Friendsgiving. We're going to have special cocktails. We're going to have a hat bar to have people create their own hats with fun patches, a permanent jewelry spot, and we're also going to have a thank you for the short notice. Come prepare some dishes, so make sure that's on your calendar. There'll be more announcements coming up pretty soon, so make sure to keep an eye on that and come hang out with us.
Speaker 1:And in case you haven't noticed yet, the weather it sure is changing. Fall is pretty much over, the way I see it, and now we are headed straight towards winter. So obviously some people find winter to be the best season in Salt Lake, with skiing and snowshoeing and snowmobiling and all of the fun winter sports that we have. While some other people decide to close up shop and hibernate, I personally find myself somewhere in between. I'm excited to go skiing I got an icon pass and excited to use that but also excited to spend some time at home and paint. I'm currently trying to learn how to play the guitar. So lots of good things to look forward to with the seasons once again changing.
Speaker 1:Also want to announce this week's guest. So unless you've been living under a rock, you know that it is election time, not only in Salt Lake but in our country. So this week we have Brian Schott, the former political correspondent for the Trib, who has recently started his own deal on the podcast, to talk about what he sees in Utah politics, both historic trends and currently of what's going on. Talking about where I mean essentially our votes for the presidential candidate don't matter. Donald Trump is going to win. That.
Speaker 1:Utah has always been a conservative state, but with more local elections, there's some funny business that's been going on that he highlights that we should all know about, as well as talk about some of the candidates and why we should consider voting for some of them. So that will be releasing this Saturday. I wanted to make sure it released before the election so anybody who hadn't voted yet can get some insights into that. So, whether you are a Democrat, whether you are Republican, whether you are neither or somewhere in between, lots of really good tidbits in there as well. So make sure to check that out. Coming this Saturday, make sure to mark your calendar for the 14th of November for the friends giving event. Go check out the episode of the John if you haven't yet, and get those skis out, get them tuned, get them edged, because winter is in fact, coming. So I will see you this Saturday with the episode with Brian, but in the meantime, enjoy some cozy rainy weather, see ya.
